Summer Missions 2010 - Thailand

When...

July 1st - July 11th

Who...

The team will be supporting Missionary Paul Kim and the ministry in Thailand.  The ministry vision is to create a vibrant Christian community that steadily produces Christlike indigenous leaders, who effectively contribute to the worldwide body of believers. Individual leadership development is the main strategy. Paul is teaching in Global Theological Seminary in Chonburi Center and also helping to raise funds. The ministry members play a supporting role in Newsong Bangkok Church and leads English Bible studies for a group of Thai professionals (OLC or Outreach Language Center).

Where...

During the first half of the trip, we are staying at Chonburi Mission Center houses several ministries including a leadership training center, seminary, church, and an orphanage.  The center is located near Banbung, Chonburi, about 2 hours southeast of Bangkok (or just over an hour from the new Suvarnabhumi Int'l Airport). The 250-acre land was donated by one family for the purpose of helping Thai people of all ages, from leadership training to caring for the orphans.  During the second half of the trip, we will be supporting some local ministries in Bangkok.

What...

While in Chonburi, we will be will teaching English in the local schools and leading a VBS at Chonburi Mission Center.  We hope to share the love of Christ to the students through our English teaching and help build a good relationship between the school and the Chonburi Mission Center.  In Bangkok, we are planning to minister to the kids in a local slum community by teaching English and just showing them Christ-like love.  We are also planning to visit the Rahab Ministries, a ministry dedicated to sharing the love of Jesus Christ through Friendship Evangelism and Social Concern, specifically to women working in prostitution.
